Ang Lobo Ko (My Balloon in english), is a filipino nursery rhyme that my parents and grandparents would sing to me as a child. I wanted to utilize a child-like style to remind the audience of their own childhoods.
The song is a lesson in responsibility. It's about a child who spends their money on a balloon and loses it. They spend the rest of the song thinking about how they should've spent their money on something they need, like food, instead of wasting it on the balloon.
In my design, I wanted to focus on the theme of loss, where my character accepts losing the balloon.
Fun fact! This is my favorite character design I've ever done. My friends and I nicknamed him Bobo (which also translates to fool in Tagalog), and because of him I've been trying to do more character driven work.
